Press release on Vadim RAZUMOVSKIY’s visit of the Scientific Center of Epidemiology in Kindia

On May 14, 2019 the Russian Ambassador to Guinea and Sierra Leone Vadim RAZUMOVSKIY visited the Clinical Diagnostic Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology (CREMS) in Kindia.

During the Ebola epidemic, engulfed the West African countries (Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone) in 2014-2016, the hospital CREMS, built with financial support of RUSAL, was the first permanent specialized medical institution where Ebola patients were treated.

Today there is a laboratory complex of the Russian-Guinean Center for Epidemiology and Prevention of Dangerous Diseases on the territory of the hospital where «GamEvac-Combi» vaccines against Ebola, developed by Russian scientists, are under way on clinical trials.

Together with representatives of RUSAL, who take an active part in the research funding, a detailed examination of laboratories, familiarization with the specifics and methods of work, acquaintance with the groups of Russian specialists working on the territory of the Republic of Guinea.

After the inspection the Ambassador made a speech to the Russian staff and employees of the hospital. After thanking for the work and expressing extreme interest in the cooperation Vadim RAZUMOVSKIY wished further success in research activities.

During this trip Vadim RAZUMOVSKIY also got acquainted with the management and staff of the Research Institute of Applied Biology of Guinea (IRBAG). The Scientific Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology is located on the territory of the IRBAG together with which a large research work is carried out.
