On international scientific and practical conference on countering new coronavirus infection in St.Petersburg
On December 9-10, 2020, St. Petersburg hosted an international scientific and practical conference on countering new coronavirus infection and other infectious diseases, which brought together almost 200 participants from 22 countries — representatives of leading national and foreign research institutes.
In her welcoming speech, Anna POPOVA, Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor), Chief State Sanitary Physician of the Russian Federation, stressed that in the context of the new coronavirus pandemic, the exchange of experience between specialists from different countries is certainly extremely relevant and Russia is open to such cooperation.
The Chief State Sanitary Physician read out the words of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir PUTIN, in which, in particular, it is noted that "scientists, doctors, employees of health authorities and sanitary and epidemiological services are at the forefront of the fight against the largest pandemic in recent decades caused by the COVID-19 virus. Russia is fully ready to cooperate with foreign partners in the field of antiepidemiology, to exchange accumulated experience in prevention and treatment."
Greetings were also delivered by Igor MORGULOV, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Dorit NITZAN, Representative of the regional Director for emergency situations of the European office of the World Health Organization.
The Guinean delegation from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the National Agency for Sanitary Safety, as well as subordinate research institutes took part in the work of the Conference in full-time and remote format. During the Special Panel Session, scientific reports were presented by the scientists of the Research Institute of Applied Biology of Guinea Mamadou Yéro BOIRO and Sanaba BOUMBALY, Research Center of Virology - Laboratory of hemorrhagic fevers N'Faly MAGASSOUBA.
As a result of the work of the Conference, a Final Resolution was prepared, as well as a collection of scientific publications.
